Hernandez Honored at LCGPC Championships
Crescent City Winter Guard Director Charlie Hernandez was honored this past Saturday at the Louisiana Color Guard and Percussion Circuit championships by induction into the LCGPC Hall Of Fame.
Charlie is the Director of Bands at Bonnabel High School in Metairie, and has been a music educator in the New Orleans area for over three decades. As Director of Bonnabel’s Lagniappe winter guard since 1991, Hernandez was instrumental in the founding of both the Gulf Coast Color Guard Circuit and the Louisiana Color Guard and Percussion Circuit. Among Charlie’s many credits in the marching music field were membership in the Southern Rebels Drum and Bugle Corps and having been a past Corps Director of Echoes of New Orleans.
Also inducted at Saturday’s ceremony was Charlie “Bubbie” Mascaro, a long time director of color guards and circuits in the south, including the Bleu Raeders Winter Guard and the Los Cumancheros. This year’s third inductee was Mr. Tommy Burroughs, Director of Bands at Denham Springs High School.
Congratulations to these deserving honorees on their induction and their lifetimes of achievement in the marching arts. |
