On October 22, 2011, GNODCA held our Annual Business Meeting and Pot-Luck Event.  The election resulted with John Weidman being re-elected and Jon DeSilva was elected to the GNODCA Board of Directors.  GNODCA and the units reviewed their FY 2011 accomplishments and some FY2012 expectations.  We honored the memory of Marty Hurley, Drum Corps Drum Instructor (for about 40 years) with a moment of silence and showed some of the Percussion Tributes from Brother Martin, La. State University, University of La. Lafayette, Southern Mississippi, and Phantom Regiment Alumni then all together with other drummers.  Photos were shown of the Ceasar & Isis Parades, Jazz Fest Booth, Annual Banquet, the new summer Echoes Uniforms at the Houma Independence Parade, and the Southernaire’s 30th DCI Championship Reunion events.  A Parade of Prize Raffle and 50/50 Raffle was held.

During the first GNODCA Board of Directors Meeting for FY2012, the first order of business was to elect the executive Board.  Your new FY2012 Executive Board is:

GNODCA 2012 Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) PDF Print E-mail

2012 Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)

The Greater New Orleans Drum Corps Association is happy to announce that the GNODCA Tuition Assistance Program has been renewed for the upcoming 2012 drum corps season, with one exciting change to the program. Applications are now open to all students marching in any competitive junior drum corps. The TAP committee realized that offering awards to one member in each of the Guard, Brass, and Percussion sections, as in previous years, denied the opportunity to offer tuition assistance to any drum majors. Elimination of the previous divisions allows us to award assistance to all members. For the 2012 season, awards in the amount of $500 each will be given to three members of any competitive junior drum and bugle corps.

We are now ready to begin receiving applications. Application deadline is January 31, 2012.

Click here to download the 2012 application.

"Awesome" Drum Corps. Reunion PDF Print E-mail

The Greater New Orleans Drum Corporation Association

We would like to thank everyone who attended Sunday, August 21, 2011, the Louisiana Drum

Corps Reunion Picnic with special acknowledgement of the 30th Anniversary of the1981

DCI “Class A” Champions Louisiana Southernaires. This was a great event and we enjoyed

visiting with past drum corps friends and family.  The shelter at Laketown in Kenner was the

perfect spot for the occasion.

The Greater New Orleans Drum Corps Association (GNODCA) sponsored the event. A great

cake and wonderful banner with years of Drum Corp. pictures was made and donated to

GNODCA by one of its board members, Cheryl Gautreaux.  Many were in "awe" of the memory

lane that it took them down as they were laughing at those pictures from way back.  There

was 50/50 drawing, many parade of prize drawings and a cake mimicking the DCI Class A

Champion Banner.  All "parade of prize" gifts were donated by Nita Addotto, Cheryl Gautreaux,

and Babette Staunton.  The name tags, cups, plates and utensils were donated by a few of

our own good men:  Elroy Ingersoll, David Callaway and Mark Manguno.  We would like to thank

David McCoy for the use of his TV and DVD player to play the drum corps performances and

David Callaway for the use of his scanner for copying pictures and Alex Staunton for manning

the scanner; and as always when you put on an event there are those who tirelessly go fetch

all of the required equipment in order to help make the event a success, so we’d like to thank

David McCoy, David Callaway and Alex, Babette & Don Staunton. There was plenty of area for

Drum and Bugle Corps enthusiasts to shoot the breeze about past and current events. Most

came with drum corps memorabilia and shared stories for hours.

We would like to thank the following companies for donating items for this event: St Mary

Magdalene Parish Church, Winn Dixie, The Creative Corner, and Temple Inland. For additional

information, contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or GNODCA on Facebook.
