Louisiana Drum & Bugle Corps Hall Of Fame
2011 Inductees:
Mrs. Mary Ledbetter
Mary started her drum corps career in 1979 running the bingos every Sunday night for the Blue Raeders. She also helped make uniforms and make flags and worked the Super Dome and she helped make those “bologna sandwiches” on tours. Mrs. Mary insisted they keep doing the bingos until the debt was paid off, then they could shut down. Mrs. Mary has been involved with our Jazz Fest Beer (excuse me) beverage booth since 1981. Mrs. Mary is a person who is instrumental in the development and the promoting of a drum and bugle corps by her long dedicated support.
Mrs. Anna Olivier
Anna started her career in October 1973 and did fund raisers for the Bleu Raeders. In 1974, Karen joined the Raeders and Anna was on the board and was treasurer at one time, she made uniforms, and flags, and she worked the Super Dome for the corps. Mrs. Anna also helped make “those ham sandwiches” on the tours. Mrs. Anna has been involved with our Jazz Fest beverage booth since 1981. Mrs. Anna is a person who is instrumental in the development and the promoting of a drum and bugle corps by her long dedicated support.
Mr. Ronnie Thibodeaux
He stated his drum corps career as a cymbal player for the Stardusters in 1966. Then he moved to bass drum and then on to snare drum. In 1970, he helped the Masqueraders percussion line. In 1972, he was a charter member of the Blue Raeders Drum and Bugle Corps and in 1974 he was drum instructor for Regiment Militaire. He then moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he did not forget drum corps or didn’t stay involved. No! He became Director of the Night Express Drum Corps from 1992 to 1996 where they came in 2nd in Class A. He came back to Hammond in 2010. This person also was instrumental in the promotion of drum corps.

On October 22, 2011, GNODCA held our Annual Business Meeting and Pot-Luck Event. The election resulted with John Weidman being re-elected and Jon DeSilva was elected to the GNODCA Board of Directors. GNODCA and the units reviewed their FY 2011 accomplishments and some FY2012 expectations. We honored the memory of Marty Hurley, Drum Corps Drum Instructor (for about 40 years) with a moment of silence and showed some of the Percussion Tributes from Brother Martin, La. State University, University of La. Lafayette, Southern Mississippi, and Phantom Regiment Alumni then all together with other drummers. Photos were shown of the Ceasar & Isis Parades, Jazz Fest Booth, Annual Banquet, the new summer Echoes Uniforms at the Houma Independence Parade, and the Southernaire’s 30th DCI Championship Reunion events. A Parade of Prize Raffle and 50/50 Raffle was held.
During the first GNODCA Board of Directors Meeting for FY2012, the first order of business was to elect the executive Board. Your new FY2012 Executive Board is:
Board President – John Weidman
Board Secretary – Babette Staunton
Board Treasurer – Mark Manguno
Executive Director – Elroy Ingersoll
Other Board Members: Nita Addotto

2012 Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)
The Greater New Orleans Drum Corps Association is happy to announce that the GNODCA Tuition Assistance Program has been renewed for the upcoming 2012 drum corps season, with one exciting change to the program. Applications are now open to all students marching in any competitive junior drum corps. The TAP committee realized that offering awards to one member in each of the Guard, Brass, and Percussion sections, as in previous years, denied the opportunity to offer tuition assistance to any drum majors. Elimination of the previous divisions allows us to award assistance to all members. For the 2012 season, awards in the amount of $500 each will be given to three members of any competitive junior drum and bugle corps.
We are now ready to begin receiving applications. Application deadline is January 31, 2012.
Click here to download the 2012 application.
